Jr (1,0)

O (1,0)

1. Wooley’s Pertisky Platinum Black At Challeymead –  Black male, nice head shape with good proportions,  plenty of substance, good length of ribbing, moderately angulated rear, moved soundly out and back but really needed a bigger ring to show off his side profile. BOB

Afghan Hound

PG (2,0)

1. Vargen’s Alphaville’s It’s So Easy – Such a smart puppy dog of just 8 months, long masculine head, good proportions, well angulated, short hocks and a super ringed tail. Such a delight to go over an afghan and find a wonderfully constructed front with a return of upper arm. I’m sure he will have some fun in the future. RBOB BPIB

2. Godber-Ford’s Affyneeta Desert Wind – More mature boy than the class winner and presented in super coat and condition, but just couldn’t match him for the overall quality and movement. However, this boy is well constructed with a good outline and is well angulated.

O (3,1)

1. Cowley & Maroney Cowley’s Hariri Ebn Mahsati Von Haussen – A dog I have judged previously. He is balanced and sound, has a super outline and is so beautifully presented, masculine head with a good expression, just shows some reluctance to use his tail.  BOB

2. Godber-Ford’s Affyneeta Mountain Breeze – Well built male with a good head and expression, neck runs well into his shoulders although I would like a bit more front fill and return of upper arm. In good coat and condition and sound on the move.

BFDB

PG (2,0)

PBGV

PG (3,2)

1. Granum & Cadmore’s Soletrader Prue Leith – Pleasing breed type, with a typical head and expression, well balanced throughout and moved soundly but just preferred the front construction on the BOB in the challenge.  RBOB

Basset Hound

PG (2,0)

1. Beckett’s Beckshounds Bronco Billy – Although not the maturity of the second dog who was his litter brother, he just had the edge for me as he held his outline at all times. Loved his head and expression, pleasing type who moved well once he settled.  RBOB

2. Beckett’s Beckshounds Kelly’s Hero – young red and white male, correct head with a good eye, arched neck and a good lay of shoulder, tight feet and good forechest but just needs to strengthen through his back as he is slightly losing his topline.

O (1,0)

1. Turner’s Devonhound Who’s That Girl – Red and white female that I judged as a youngster and she has matured so well.  She is appealing for breed type and balance, feminine head, well developed front, so sound out and back and shows reach and drive in profile whilst maintaining her topline and using her tail well. BOB

Beagle

2. Breeze’s Parkebreeway Wyseman – Strong headed male, long leathers, muscular neck, good shoulders, straight forelegs but I would like a touch more length to them, muscular rear, held his shape well on the move.

The topline had a graceful curve which he maintained on the move. His movement is effortless showing good front reach and rear drive. BOB BPIB

4. Rangali Heihei - BFDB

RBOB Hound

1. Alphaville’s It’s So Easy – Afghan Hound

AV Hound

P (13,5)

1. Howgate & Hull’s Palmik Never Too Late – Whippet Fawn male, masculine head with the kindest of expressions, clean arched neck into good shoulders and return of upper arm. Well filled forechest and a deep brisket, ribs are well sprung and a good turn of stifle. I would just like him a touch shorter in his length of loin to give him more strength and shape in his topline on the move. Covered the ground well.

2. Trouton’s Citycroft Aphrodite Of Runnel – Whippet Brindle girl of a different breed type to the class winner. She is curvy and elegant, beautiful head and expression, long neck into smooth shoulders, good underline and a beautiful topline which she maintains on the move. Could just be a little tidier in front.

3. Pinkerton’s Brutus Granabrazo At Menigma – Borzoi

V (15,4)

1. Allenby’s Ch Rangali Tigger – BFDB A quality male who is masculine, balanced and well constructed. His head has good furnishings, the best of shoulders, level topline and a well set tail that just never stopped. Couldn’t fault him on the move and he certainly does not look or behave like a veteran.

2. Trouton’s Runnel Run For Fun – Whippet Beautiful fawn male who is masculine without being strong and very easy on the eye. A classic outline, clean neck, well laid shoulder, good depth of brisket, strong loin and a good turn of stifle. Moved out well and still enjoying his showing. A credit to the owner.

3. Redcap Northern Lights Over Alandobel

AV Puppy Stakes

1. Stirk’s Nyllaup Akoya Pearl For Grakar – IWS I think I may have recently judged the litter brother to this bitch and I really liked him. However, I think this girl is rather special. Good coat with good colour and curl, strong neck, well constructed front, feminine head and a beautiful eye, deep brisket, moderate hind angulation and so very sound on the move out and back. In profile she maintains her outline and covers the ground without any effort. What an exciting prospect she is.

2. Howgate & Hull’s Tervanty Dragon Song At Palmik – Whippet Elegant and beautiful fawn bitch, long clean neck with a slight arch, head has a slight stop, well laid shoulders, filled forechest, curvy underline, well developed second thigh with flat muscletone. On the move she covers the ground and is sound out and back. I would like her a touch shorter in loin to help with her topline on the move but this could come as she develops in her core muscles.

3. Smart’s Wibmeister Remy - Dalmation

Judge - Jak Titchener

Thank you to the Bridgwater & District Canine Society Committee for inviting me to judge their Open Show. This being my first open show appointment, it was nice to judge for a society that I used to be the Secretary of a few years ago. Its great to see the Society still doing well, and well done for a well run show.

Breed: Spaniel (English Springer)

Thank you to all the English Springer Spaniel exhibitors who exhibited under me today as their replacement judge. Unfortunately quite a few absentees, but really pleased with the three dogs that were present in the class.

Class 256 OPEN (3,3)

1st TEIGNVALLEY NEW BEGINNINGS JW

A remarkable 17-month-old, black and white, dog that made an immediate impression as soon as he entered the ring, giving that true "wow factor", that was hard to overlook. His build is very symmetrical, and having balanced proportions throughout that are essential to the breed. This young dog also displays a friendly and happy temperament, which is a joy to see, especially when he thought I had treats for him! When it came to movement, he is outstanding—demonstrating fantastic reach and drive that speaks to his overall soundness.

Very well done! BOB

2nd TEIGNVALLEY RAGS TO RICHES VW

The sister to the first-place dog, and another impressive 17-month-old black and white spaniel. She showcased a lot of quality that made her a strong contender in this class. Easily distinguishable as a bitch, she has a slightly smaller build than her brother while still maintaining a symmetrical structure. Her movement was very good, with well-defined rear hocks that drive effectively under her body. While it was a close decision, the "wow factor" presented by her brother ultimately tipped the scales in his favour. RBOB

3rd PEASBLOSSON DAREDEVIL FOR TIVERSTONE TAF

Breed: Irish Setter

Thank you to all the Irish Setter exhibitors who exhibited under me today as their replacement judge. Really pleased with my entry of 19 dogs, with only 3 absentees. Overall, the quality of the dogs was very good. I was however surprised with some of the poor mouths in the breed today; A few dogs without perfect, regular and complete scissor bite.

Class 225 PUPPY (2,0)

1st FAIRHAVEN YOUNG SOUL FOR KONAKAKELA (IMP SWE) A promising 9-month-old dog, he displays a long, lean head with an excellent expression and correct perfect scissor bite. His forequarters are straight, and having good bone. The coat is of nice quality with a rich chestnut colour and appropriate feathering. Although a little naughty on the move, moving with the body at an angle to the line of travel, however this is forgivable due to the age, but did move for long enough to judge the movement. BPIB

2nd EMPYREANSKY VARGA VENUS LUCK This 11-month-old bitch presents a pleasing head and expression with a correct scissor bite. Although she is slightly finer in bone compared to the first place dog and smaller in size, she was proportionate which is important for this breed. The breed standard does not outline a recommended size for this breed. Small, firm feet and with fairly good movement, she shows promise as she matures.

Class 226 SPECIAL YEARLING (7,2) Wow, what a class!

1st CLONAGEERA SUMMER MAGIC This 12 month old bitch, only just out of puppy, impressed me with her overall balance and quality. A welldefined head and correct bite, proportionate in size and a deep chest with well sprung ribs. Her movement is free flowing and showing that good drive. No doubt this bitch will do well in the future as she further matures.

2nd MARZANNE TRIGGER HAPPY BY THENDARA Another promising 12 month old dog, also only just transitioned out of the puppy class. Long and lean head, exhibiting the breed's characteristics and a very handsome dog. Plenty of bone, a deep chest, a very muscular loin, as well as wide and powerful hindquarters. His racy silhouette with a good coat and nice feathering, correct of the breed type. Didn’t quite move as well as number one today, but result could have been easily different on a different given day. been easily different on a different given day.

Class 227 POST GRADUATE (3,0)

1st HENALEAS MAXIMILIAN WITH DERRYDORE JW This 17-month-old dog immediately captured my attention upon entering the ring. He is exceptionally wellbalanced and exudes quality and proportion in every aspect. His rich chestnut coat is beautifully presented, with excellent straight and flat feathering. Deep shoulders, with well let down elbows that contribute to lovely free flowing movement with plenty of drive. Nice deep chest with a good gentle sloping topline into powerful hindquarters. RBOB

2nd SHELDONITE GINGERBREAD MAN A 3-year-old dog showing that racy and balanced general appearance. While his mouth could have been better, his deep chest and adequate length of neck provide a solid foundation for his overall profile. Additionally, he is slightly shorter in body than I would prefer, which affects the ideal proportions we look for in this breed. His movement is what gained him his placing as he showed that really nice true action whilst on the move. Great drive and lovely to watch move.

Class 228 LIMIT (1,1)

1st COVARNEY ESTEE AVEC MARZANNE JW 6-year-old bitch, not far away from being a veteran, who stood alone in her class, yet her quality deserves recognition regardless of the competition. She presents a nice long and lean head with a pleasing expression, and a good depth of chest. However, I did notice that her rear movement, particularly on the nearside, was not quite as strong as it could be today. While it wasn’t significant enough to withhold her from winning the class, it is an area that would benefit from improvement.

Class 229 OPEN (6,0)

1st THENDARA MARSHMELLO JW A lovely 7-year-old veteran dog who truly excelled in this class. He is really well balanced and is full of quality, making him stand out. His rich chestnut colouring is striking, complemented by plenty of feathering that enhances his overall appearance. His head is of good proportion, with parallel lines and equal lengths, correct of breed type. Movement is one of his strong points; he showcases a lovely, free-flowing, and driving gait that an Irish Setter should have. With a deep chest and well-sprung ribs, he demonstrates excellent musculature, particularly evident along the loin. Whilst his tail could have been better, this is a minor point compared to the overall high quality of this dog. BOB

2nd REDCLYST MAXIMUS An almost 8-year-old dog whose movement truly captured my attention; free flowing, true in action and perfect co-ordination. He exemplifies good breed type, with correct proportions and his fore and hindquarters being well-developed. He presents a lovely, racy, and clean outline that is expected of this breed.
